GLOBEMED: 2017 GlobeMed Summit
March 30, 2017 @ 6:00 PM—April 1, 2017 @ 7:30 PM CDT
Every year, the GlobeMed Summit catalyzes collective learning & collaboration between 300 students, grassroots partners and peer organizations from around the world. The 2017 Summit theme – ‘Leading Bravely: Finding Strength in Diversity’ – activates a critical understanding of the intersections between global health and social justice, and helps delegates discern how their own leadership style can advance global health equity.
GlobeMed welcomes the Colombian Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Luis Gilberto Murillo, and US Congresswoman, Jan Schakowsky, to give keynote addresses reflecting on ‘Courageous Public Leadership’.
GlobeMed is also excited to host keynote speeches by the CEO of Chicago Foundation for Women, K. Sujata, RAPtivist Aisha Fukushima, and the founder of Children of Peace-Uganda, Jane Ekayu. Writer Roger Thurow, innovator Edgar Cahn, the University of Chicago’s Dr Melissa Gilliam, and Native organizer Kelly Hayes are among the session keynote speakers.
Tickets range from $20 to $100, while an all-access conference pass is $395.
