So much has happened in the short months since we first floated the idea of Convening the Conveners. We have a global calendar, an evolving online space, our very own SaraJoy Pond has agreed to help with communications and coordination, many more Conveners have joined our collaborative (see below for current list of participants), and we’ve had a handful of gatherings around the world indicating clear momentum around increased impact, insight, collaboration and accountability; being all-around better at what we do such that we can better convene and connect the social sector ecosytem.
One of the major takeaways from our meeting at the Opportunity Collaboration was the agreed need to better understand our convening landscape, to define terms and map the space. Accordingly, at our next gathering — on February 20th (details below), following the Global Innovation Summit (February 17th-19th in Silicon Valley) — we’re going to take a shot!
The conveners will convene for a 4-hour working session focused on understanding and mapping our convening ecosystem. Attendance at GIS isn’t mandatory to participate in the conveners gathering, but the mapping work attendees of the summit will undertake represents a natural carryover, so the more of us who’ve had that prep, the more effective our meeting will likely be!
Here are the details:
Thursday, February 20th
10am-2pm (complimentary lunch will be available)
846 Portola Road, Suite A
Portola Valley, CA 94028
Please let me know if you will attend the Conveners meeting, so we can plan appropriately.
