The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE)

The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) is a global network of organizations that propel entrepreneurship in emerging markets. ANDE members provide critical financial, educational, and business support services to small and growing businesses (SGBs) based on the conviction that SGBs will create jobs, stimulate long-term economic growth, and produce environmental and social benefits. Ultimately, we believe that SGBS can help lift countries out of poverty.

Members of ANDE include both for and nonprofit investment funds, capacity development providers, research and academic institutions, development finance institutions and corporations from around the world. Launched with 34 members in 2009, ANDE now comprises over 260 members who collectively operate in more than 150 countries.

You dream in Excel and fantasize about ways to better organize traffic flows in your daily commute. You passionately believe that if you can support the right people in the right roles, magic can happen. You love the idea that your extreme attention to detail could contribute to a better livelihood for entrepreneurs in an emerging market. Yet you are patient and emphatic with colleagues who may not be as organized as yourself and are willing to teach them your well-honed tricks of the trade.

Position Description:

Reporting to the Executive Director of ANDE and working closely with the executive team, the Director of Operations and Talent Management will ensure that ANDE is able to deliver on key strategic priorities, programmatic areas and grant deliverables across the global organization.

– Work with the local office and all regional chapters to ensure that ships run on time and that resources (financial and human capital) are being appropriately allocated and utilized.
– Implement and manage a robust talent management strategy that includes new plans for recruiting, onboarding, compensating, training, evaluating and coaching/providing professional development and growth opportunities to staff.
– Work closely with senior management, finance, and program staff to develop and oversee budgeting across the organization.
– Oversee operational implementation and management of grants, with an emphasis on human resources and finance.

The ideal candidate for this role:

– Has significant experience managing operations for a growing organization operating across several continents.
– Is passionate about creating and maintaining systems and processes.
– Has significant human resource experience within professional development, organizational design and training.
– Is a whiz at Excel and can develop budgets in his or her sleep.
– Has experience working at an organization that is moving from start-up mode to a larger, more-established enterprise.
– Has a minimum of five years’ experience in a senior management role.
– International experience highly preferred.
