EARLY CHILDHOOD INNOVATION PRIZE: Help Us Spread the Word About Our $1 Million Prize

Gary Community Investments & OpenIDEO

The first few years of a child’s life lay the foundation for future success. But too many young children are not reaching their full potential because existing approaches to early learning and development are not sufficiently addressing today’s challenges.

That’s why Gary Community Investments is partnering with OpenIDEO to launch the $1 Million Early Childhood Innovation Prize, an open innovation prize that is seeking solutions to the question, “How might we maximize every child’s potential during their first three years of life?” Now through February 15, we are calling on innovators of all kinds to submit ideas to help solve this pressing issue. Participants will have access to mentorship opportunities and could be eligible for a share of up to $1 million in funding.

We hope you will think about your network - do you have any early childhood educators, passionate parents, entrepreneurs, or designers in your life who would be interested in joining the Prize process? Early childhood needs the brainpower of thinkers from diverse backgrounds who are willing to offer innovative, ideas, lend mentorship, and invest capital to solve challenges together. We’d love your help in spreading the word, so we can source and support the best ideas possible.

Below is a communications toolkit with sample email, newsletter and social media copy to help you share this opportunity with your networks so we can drive impactful ideas and contributions to the Prize.

And please let us know if you’re interested in learning more or getting involved – we’d love to collaborate with you.

AFP: Call for Volunteers for the Alliance For Peacebuilding’s Conference in Washington, DC

The Alliance For Peacebuilding

Are you a student, professional, or just someone who is passionate about achieving sustainable peace and security worldwide? YOU could join dozens of experienced peacebuilding practitioners as they come together to share their achievements, insights, and visions for the future of peacebuilding. The Alliance for Peacebuilding (AfP) is looking for bright, energetic volunteers to support its staff during the 2017 Annual Conference. Held in Washington, DC from October 11 to 13, the conference will facilitate collaboration and innovation among peacebuilders from around the world as they work toward effective solutions for sustainable peace. The conference presents a unique opportunity for peacebuilders and members of the broader field of conflict and security to assess the challenges to effective peacebuilding – from widening political divisions to pervasive humanitarian crises – and develop solutions for the future.

The Alliance for Peacebuilding is looking for volunteers who are passionate and keen to learn. The ideal volunteer candidate will be well-organized, have superior time-management and communication skills, and will have demonstrable experience taking comprehensive notes. Conference volunteers will have the opportunity to gain an insider’s perspective into the future direction of peacebuilding – not to mention, volunteering is a great resume builder! We welcome interested volunteers from all walks of life, especially those who can bring passion and energy to the conference!

A solid foundation of enthusiastic volunteers is integral to the success of the Annual Conference. AfP relies on volunteers who are responsible, organized, and excited to learn. Volunteers can expect to assist AfP staff with registration, logistics, note-taking, and more! Volunteers may also have the opportunity to sit in on select conference activities – however, volunteer responsibilities will take priority over participation in the conference.

If you are interested in volunteering at the 2017 Annual Conference, please send a copy of your resume/CV and a brief description of your interest in the Alliance for Peacebuilding to Rachelle Faust, AfP’s Annual Conference Associate, at rachelle@allianceforpeacebuilding.org. Your support helps make our Annual Conference a resounding success!

Volunteers receive free admission to the day(s) on which they are volunteering. Lunch will be provided for volunteers on all three days of the conference. In addition, breakfast will be provided on October 12 and 13. For additional details, contact Rachelle Faust, Annual Conference Associate, at rachelle@allianceforpeacebuilding.org.
