CtC COLLECTIVE IMPACT PROJECTS

Collective Impact Projects (CIPs) are working groups focused on a specific topic for a defined period of time, with the objective of creating a new industry resource, solution, or tool. Through its CIP program, Conveners.org makes collaborating with others easy. Our team manages all of the administrative responsibilities, so that busy organizational leaders can fully focus on engaging in the project.

CIP LEADER

- Commit to attending three conference calls (60-90 minutes each, over 6 months)
- Co-design the agenda for each call
- Help to ensure that participants are fully represented.

CIP PARTICIPANTS

- Attend two to three conference calls over 6 months
- Share their thoughts, insights, and suggestions to advance the community initiative

CURRENT CONVENERS CIPs

Effective collaboration first requires truly connecting with others. These connections can be be based on different commonalities – such as sector, geography, target audience– that then serve as a foundation for shared experiences. We will explore how to develop these connections through examining the affinity group model, in particular learning from the experience of our inaugural Women’s Affinity Group (which began in January 2016.)

An affinity group for impact-focused mappers to coordinate mapping initiatives designed to better understand the social impact landscape.

CONCLUDED CONVENERS CIPs

A concerted effort to understand the current state of our ecosystem. Iteration 1 was presented to the group as an infographic in May 2014.

We were able to take the insights from the working group and apply them to a co-hosted work session where we created some powerful infographics. This project will be moving forward as Continuing Conversations II for a further round of uncovering tangible ways for conveners to collaborate on content throughout the year. Thank you to Mark Newberg and Topher Wilkins for leading this effort and we are excited to hear more about the lessons you learned in collaborating between GIS and Opportunity Collaboration.

This Collective Impact Project looked at the agendas from across 2015 convenings to identify conveners who may benefit from collaborating on future content and cross promotion.

This CIP is exploring what kinds of resources would be most helpful to train moderators on the art of moderating. In addition, we are examining what kind of tools conveners could benefit from to effectively select moderators.
